Privacy Policy
Effective date and last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy explains what information ShelfCheck collects through shelfcheckai.com (the "site"), how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. ShelfCheck is operated by Kai Andrade, a sole proprietor based in Massachusetts, USA ("ShelfCheck," "we," "us"). Questions: kai@shelfcheckai.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request an AI Shelf Report, we collect what you enter in the form:
- Name and work email address
- Brand name and, if you provide them, brand website, competitors and the questions your shoppers ask
- Your role (for example, Founder or Marketing)
- Your consent choice and, if you tick it, your choice to receive occasional AI Shelf Index updates
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. This is standard for web servers and is used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
What we don't do. The site does not use cookies, analytics tools, advertising or tracking pixels, social media widgets or other third-party embeds. Fonts are loaded from your own device, not from an outside font service. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not ask for payment details, government ID numbers, health information or other sensitive information on the site. Please don't include any in the form.
2. How we use your information
- To prepare and send the AI Shelf Report you requested and to reply to you about it
- To follow up about your request and, if you choose to work with us, to provide our services
- If you opted in, to send occasional AI Shelf Index updates. Every update includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To protect the site and our form from spam and abuse
- To comply with the law
When we prepare a report, we enter your brand name, your competitors' names and shopper-style questions into AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. We do not enter your name, email address or other personal information into those tools.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run ShelfCheck, and only as needed for them to do that work:
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify, Inc. (USA) | Hosts the site and stores form submissions | Form submissions and technical visit data |
| Akismet, by Automattic Inc. (USA), through Netlify | Screens form submissions for spam | Form submission content |
| Google Workspace (USA) | Our business email | Emails we send and receive, including report requests forwarded to us |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information).
4. How long we keep it
We keep report requests and related emails for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client, in which case we keep records as long as needed for the work and for legal, tax and accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below). Our hosting provider keeps its technical logs according to its own retention practices.
5. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction and deletion. Email kai@shelfcheckai.com to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
- Unsubscribe. You can stop AI Shelf Index updates at any time using the link in any update or by emailing us. We will act on it within 10 business days.
- State privacy rights. Some U.S. states give residents additional privacy rights. We honor the requests above for everyone, wherever you live, and we will not treat you differently for making one.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track visitors across websites or over time, and we do not use cookies or analytics. Because of this, the site works the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
7. Security
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to submitted information to the people who need it to run ShelfCheck. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Children
ShelfCheck is a service for businesses. The site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Where information is processed
ShelfCheck is based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States. If you contact us from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will also note them clearly at the top of this page, and where we have your email address and the change affects how we use it, we will tell you by email.
